A downloadable project

This prompt was the one I struggled with the most.

For this concept, I would use the board game Sorry to act as the base game. In this concept, you can play with a range between 2 - 4 players. I think that having more players would make the whole experience more fun.

Sorry would play out the same way a normal game would with no changes to the rules. However for the concept I had in mind the events that happen in Sorry would affect the (other game). By other game I mean that any video game can be used in this slot.

What I had in mind is that when events occur in Sorry you get access to buttons on a controller. I’m going to be using an Xbox controller for this example.

Rules -

For each pawn that a player gets to the safe zone they get to choose a button on the controller.

(Each joystick counts as a single button, back bumpers/top bumpers each count as a single button)

Once every player takes their turn, depending on the turn order a player can attempt to beat the other game with the buttons that they have available.

However, each player only gets 3 attempts at the other game, if they fail all 3 they still can play Sorry but cannot win the overall game.

For the other game being used I think that it should be a game that requires multiple buttons to win at least. You don’t want somebody just winning right off the bat because they are that good with one button. Since there are only four pawns in Sorry I imagine that each player can strategically choose what buttons work best for them.

I think that Nidhogg would be a great example for the other game. Nidhogg is a relatively simple fight against someone else and try to go as far left or right respectively to each player. I think this would be a good other game because two people get to play and the person not trying to win will have a huge advantage because their opponent will only have limited buttons.

(Nidhogg)

I just wanted to add that this concept is heavily inspired by the video game Crawl. This concept is the game design of Crawl. Players get stronger and eventually, they have the chance to win the overall game. Both in this concept and in Crawl you only get three attempts for each player.
